The biggest attraction of Ibiza is perhaps the sixties feeling of Love, Peace and Happiness. Because despite the rising prices of real estate and restaurants, the island remains a popular destination. Of course life on Ibiza is skyrocketing, but as long as there are people who want to pay 160 euros for two sun loungers, the price will not be adjusted. Okay, a frikandel speciaal for 10.20 is a bit excessive, but they are still in great demand. Just like the Dutch bitterballen by the way.
So what is the secret of Ibiza that keeps you coming back here? Is it the music? I did not really consciously experience the hippie era. My generation was musical aware in between Iron Butterfly (In a gadda da Vida) and the Jackson Five. I only knew Woodstock and Flower Power from LP covers and I would have liked to see Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Deep Purple play live. But I did not grow up with it.
When I got into music, American rap was all the rage, but so was funk and jazz rock. Despite that, music from the sixties always felt familiar and somehow ‘safe’. In a world that has been turned upside down, that’s a logical reason to still listen to it. When The Mama and The Papa’s sing ‘California Dreaming’, it’s as if all the daily misery fades into the background.
Funny or coincidental, this is the music that you hear (almost) everywhere on Ibiza. If there’s a performance by old rockers, the entire repertoire comes along and young and old dance to music from the sixties. Not just the Mama’s and The Papa’s, but also Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, The Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Marley and The Doors. Thanks to Ibiza, our children are now also crazy about this music, so it has proven to be timeless.

The love for Ibiza also has to do with energy, of course. Ibiza is actually a kind of Lourdes in the Mediterranean; we all go there with positive thoughts. And if you all think positive, you will get that vibe in your sensors as soon as you land.
Visual marking on our subconscious also plays a role in the attraction of Ibiza. You come across the words Love everywhere. And Peace. And Happiness. Then think of that experiment by the Japanese Masaru Emoto. He showed that words and music can influence the structure of water. With a simple microscope you can test this yourself. Just take two bottles of water and write on one bottle ‘Love, Peace, Happiness’. On the other bottle write the words ‘Hate, War, Evil’. France loves traditions and honours its past, architecture, families, and those who have achieved something in the fields of theatre, film, or music. Anyone who has ever scored a hit as a French woman or Frenchman can count on eternal fame for the rest of their career. Johnny Halladay is also often wrongly pronounced as Johnny Holiday.
It was a pseudonym of Jean-Philippe Smet, born in Paris on June 15, 1942. This French mix of Elvis Presley and the Dutch folk singer André Hazes sold more than 100 million records. Johnny started making music in 1950 and was extremely popular in France in the sixties.
Like Elvis, he had to join the army at the age of 18 as a result of compulsory military service. He was given permission by the army leadership to record records, which suddenly made the army super cool.

Johnny Halladay also toured America where he wrote several songs in Nashville. However, his superstar image mainly continued to shine in France. He also starred in 30 films, including The Pink Panther 2 (2009).
Halladay was married four times, most recently to a model 32 years his junior. He lived like a rock & roll star, settling in Switzerland in 2006 where he paid 15 times less income tax than in France. He eventually moved to Los Angeles where he died on December 5, 2017.
France now honours him forever with a statue in the French port city of Fréjus.
A statue of the late French rocker Johnny Hallyday of 1,80 meters is to be inaugurated on September 21st in Frejus in the Var. Thousands of people are expected to attend the inauguration of the life-size representation of the singer at the Port of Fréjus. The event is the initiative of the motorbike club founded in 1992 by Johnny. Close friends of the singer and former musicians who accompanied him on stage are expected to be present.
This is to allow the rocker’s fans to pay their respects. Several sites are being considered: Port-Fréjus or the Base Nature, where Johnny performed in 2016 in front of 15,000 people.

This trend is expected to continue as the country’s wealth management industry grows. The growing number of these individuals also contributes to the country’s infrastructure development.
The UAE expects to welcome around 128,000 UHNWI individuals worldwide who will become millionaires this year. The number of these individuals is expected to increase significantly as the UAE continues to experience a significant increase in its millionaire population.
There are around 116,500 millionaires in the UAE, 308 centi-millionaires, and 20 billionaires. The increasing number of individuals relocating to the country has changed how they view it. Previously, UHNWIs typically only considered investing in real estate as a part of their portfolio. But that is changing as life standard becomes more and more attractive.

The increasing number of individuals relocating to the UAE has changed because of how they view the country. They are now basing their decisions on the country’s increasing asset exposure and its ability to attract wealthy families and individuals. The country’s continuous efforts to improve its legal and regulatory environment also contribute to the increasing number of UHNWI high-net-worth individuals moving to the UAE. According to a report released by Knight Frank’s 2024 Wealth Report, the number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals is expected to increase by 30 per cent by 2028. The region is planning on addressing this growing population through its infrastructure development.
The number of ultra-high net worth individuals worldwide grew by 4.2 percent in 2023. This was due to an increase of around 70 new investors every day. The Middle East and North America were the regions that experienced the biggest growth, with respective increases of 6.2 percent and 7.2 percent.
The GCC nations have been investing heavily in their infrastructure, which has contributed to the high standards of living that the region’s wealthy residents have come to expect. He noted that the real estate sector is expected to continue offering more opportunities to the ultra-high net worth individuals.
In Dubai, 26,154 new homes will be launched this year, while 32,667 will be introduced in 2025.

This Wednesday, Stella Cole opened the evening of the Nice Jazz Fest on the stage of the Théâtre de Verdure. At 25, the American, a fan of Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, is a newcomer whose rise was made via social networks.
You can find everything on TikTok—funny or lascivious dances, inspired comedians, billions of cute cats, top-flight or Sunday chefs. And you can even come across some beautiful voices. That of Stella Cole, for example. This Wednesday evening, the Nice Jazz Fest’s audience discovered her as an opening act at the Théâtre de Verdure. Just before the Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez and the American saxophonist Kenny Garrett, the singers Jordan Rakei and Omah Lay and the group Jungle brought the crowds to the Scène Masséna side.
TikTok sensation
During the COVID-19 period, Stella Cole began publishing videos of herself performing pieces from the Great American Songbook, the cream of the famous Yankee song from the 1920s to the 1960s. Quite quickly, the counters went crazy.
“It was incredible. There were hundreds and hundreds of thousands of views each time. I lived with my parents in nowhere, almost in the woods. I was walking with them and my dog. And besides that, everything was moving very quickly online. I started posting for fun because I missed singing in public so much. And then I told myself that maybe there was something to do,” explains the Illinois native, followed by 838,000 people on Tiktok.
“When the world opened up again, I understood it wasn’t just a story of unreal numbers on my smartphone, that real people were behind all this. In New York, where I live now, people recognize me on the street. I started playing with a band I didn’t know. The transition happened almost naturally, without me noticing it,” continues the 25-year-old singer.
As she confirms to us, this leap into “real life” could have seemed like a leap into the void. “There was a scary side when I started doing shows, it’s true. I went through very small clubs, bars, restaurants, and hotels. I played five or six times a week. I gained a lot of experience. And it was more fun than singing alone in my room while filming myself.”
New album release
“I don’t consider myself a jazz singer,” Stella Cole ponders. “I listened to Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald. But I was even more immersed in the songs of Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand or old movie soundtracks.” Like many musicians, especially among members of Generation Z (which refers to people born between the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2010s), Stella Cole doesn’t bother with labels.
“I’m not sure genres matter much. What matters is the connection you can feel when you listen to a song.” This results in a repertoire where she combines a cover of “Flowers”, a hit by Miley Cyrus, with “Uptown Girl”, by Billy Joel, to return to “P.S. I Love You”, a 1934 classic sung by Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and Diana Krall. Not to mention the eternal “Cry Me A River”, a song that has passed between the vocal cords of an infinite number of great names.
On August 30, Stella Cole will present her first album. We will hear a cover of “My Future” by the very modern Billie Eilish. If you missed the Nice Jazz festival, buy your tickets on time for next year!
